Colorfastness to Crocking

Crockmeter Method - Method 8-2013

By rubbing, the digitally printed fabric was tested in both a wet and dry crocking test. The crockmeter test cloth in 50mm squares, 9-step chromatic transference scale, and gray scale for staining were used. The dry crocking digital printed samples were conditioned in an atmosphere of 21±1°C. Placing a sample on the crockmeter base the crockmeter proceeds to rub the sample with the test cloth. For the wet crocking test each crockmeter test cloth must be wetted to a 65 ± 5% pickup when weighed. The wet crocking samples are then tested in the crockmeter the same as the dry samples.   A 9-step chromatic transference scale and gray scale for staining were used to determine the crocking effect on the samples all under a color test machine in the natural light setting. The L*a*b* color and ΔE* was recorded for each color of each sample.
