Colorfastness to Perspiration

  Method 15-2013

Colorfastness to perspiration, according to the AATCC standards, determines the fastness of digitally printed textiles to the effects of acid perspiration. 10 ± 0.01 g sodium chloride (NaCl) 1 ± 0.01 g lactic acid, USP 85% 1 ± 0.01 g sodium phosphate, dibasic, anhydrous (Na2HPO4) 0.25 ± 0.001 g 􏰀-histidine monohydro- chloride (C6H9N3O2⋅HCl⋅H2O) were mixed together to create an acid perspiration. Placing the digitally printed sample in a petri dish it was soaked in the perspiration solution for 30 ± 2 min. The samples were then heated in an oven at 38±1°C for 6h± 5 min. A spectrophotometer was then used to read the red, blue, and green color of all samples. The L*a*b* color and ΔE* was recorded for each color of each sample.
